Tips for Partying and Drinking Before A Saturday Rehearsal

Partying on a Friday night is not something that you should miss out on because you have a Saturday Rehearsal the next day so here are some tips on how to party and still have fun without having the worst Saturday rehearsal the next day.

1. Prepare for the Morning

Lay out your clothes, pack your lunch, and have everything you need for the next day. Setting yourself up for the next day will make you feel more prepared for your rehearsal and will also buy you some extra sleep time.

2. Set a Drink Limit

Maybe I am just a chronic lightweight but after 4 drinks I am pretty set for the evening. So when I need to be responsible I’ll only bring what I can handle and if I’m going out I’ll bring cash so that’s my drink budget for the night. Just make sure you know your limit and stick to it.

3. Electrolyte Tabs

Invest in some electrolyte tabs! They are actually magical and they will cut your hangover in half. Just take one before you start to party and you will feel so much better in the morning.

4. Get there early so you can leave early

If your friends with the host ask if you can help with setup or come early for pre drinks. This way if you have to leave early you’ve made some good memories and had some quality time with your friends.

5. Eat Carbs and Drink Water Throughout the Night

Classic drinking rules but don’t drink on an empty stomach and drink water THROUGHOUT the night. Bring your water bottle or a bottle gatorade to party with. Your hangover will thank you.

6. Skip the Drunk Ciggie or Vape

Don’t do it! Even though it’s fun and it may just be a party thing it will impact your voice the next day and it will also make you feel worse.

7. Be Nice to your Voice

Another voice health thing is not yelling and screaming the whole night. I’ve had a few nights before rehearsals where I yell the whole night and my voice has been completely gone the next day. So drink your water and the second you start to feel your voice getting weak that means it’s probably time to go home. If you are feeling particularly hoarse have some hot water with lemon and honey when you get home.

7. Budget for AT LEAST 6.5 hours of sleep

You will feel like crap battling a hangover so don’t battle exhaustion too. 6.5 hours is super attainable especially if your rehearsal starts at 10am. That means you can party till like 2am and wake up for 8:30am and you will be golden.

8. Don’t tell anyone your hungover the next day

This is a given but it’s worth saying. It looks and sounds so bad when someone is like “lol I’m so hungover!” just don’t do it. Even if you’re just saying it to one person the creative team might hear it and they don’t like that.

9. Don’t Forget to Have Some Fun

It’s a party! Have lots of fun and blow off some steam. I am a chronic extravert so partying and being around others is how I relax. Remember that you are allowed to have fun and showing up hungover to a Saturday rehearsal is honestly kind of a canon event. Just remember to drink water and also have a safe ride home!

I hope you have the most fun partying and I hope this helps you have a great post-party rehearsal.

A Little P.S. for the Party DD

If you are the designated driver remember that you are doing people a favour and you are allowed to set a time to leave the party. A pro-tip is packing your car with other people who have rehearsal in the morning and then you will all (hopefully) be on the same page about leaving at an earlier time. Also bring fun non-alcoholic drinks for yourself to enjoy. When I DD I love bringing fun Mocktail stuff so I still feel like I am participating. And don’t forget to budget for travel time especially if you live in a city where people live far apart from one another.

Sincerely,

Camryn
